This position requires a master's degree in teaching area or master's degree in related area with 18 graduate credits in teaching area.
Responsible for organizing and teaching courses in accordance with the catalog description, course outline, and syllabus.
Additionally, adjunct faculty will:
Review and comply with all policies and procedures in the Part-Time Faculty Handbook.
Develop a course syllabus based on the approved course outline as found in the Part-Time Faculty Handbook.
The course syllabus must be made available to all students on the first day of an electronic version of the syllabus must be emailed to the division office prior to the start of class.
Follow your division office procedures to obtain all necessary textbooks, instructor resources and other instructional support.
Complete the Audit Roster as of the Census Date on the Audit Roster form located in WebAdvisor on the portal.
Meet with your assigned class for the entire scheduled Dismissing students prior to the scheduled ending time is not permitted.
Notify the division office as early as possible if you anticipate missing a scheduled class meeting for any reason, including an illness or other emergencies.
If you need to change the class meeting location, seek permission from your division office.
Check your division mailboxes and email prior to each scheduled class meeting.
Maintain a grade book with sufficient detail to substantiate student grades in the event of a grade challenge by the grade book, actual tests and assignments are to be maintained for one year following the completion of the course.
Assign a 'W' or 'F' grade in response to a Student-Initiated Forward the form to your division office promptly.
The entire procedure is outlined in the Student Hand book.
Week 16 in the spring and fall semesters are reserved for administering a final examination or for other forms of evaluating you are required to meet with your class during this week.
Enter final grades in WebAdvisor in the portal (my.
westmoreland.
edu) by the deadlines specified on the Academic Calendar.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(required unless otherwise stipulated) Requires master's degree in teaching discipline, or master's degree in a related area with eighteen (18) graduate Semester hours in the teaching discipline, doctorate preferred.
Prior College teaching experience required; preferably, in a community college setting.
Knowledge of microcomputers.
Excellent Communication and Customer-Service Skills.
Proven ability to work independently and possess excellent decision-making and judgment skills.
Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards.
Working Conditions:
Normal office, classroom, laboratory and clinical environments.
Works in an environment with many interruptions.
May travel to various sites.
Successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire:

The enrollment is approximately 5,517 full-and part-time students and the programs are 65 associate degree, 20 diploma, and 78 certificate programs with options that prepare students for careers or transfer to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year institutions.

The primary responsibilities of the faculty are to teach and to develop the curriculum.
To meet these responsibilities, faculty must remain knowledgeable about current practices in their disciplines, and in learning theory.
